On 19 December, in the LTR radio show “Ryto allegro”, Judita Kasperiūnienė, associate professor at the Faculty of Informatics of Vytautas Magnus University and senior researcher at the Institute of Educational Research, head of the EduGame project, discussed the topic of gamification and serious games. The discussion focused on the fact that the spread of gamification methods from primary school to university is a natural evolutionary stage in modern education, influenced by the rapid development of technology. It was discussed that learning is a never-ending journey, where previously traditional and technology-driven educational approaches converge to help pupils or students not only to master knowledge but also to prepare for real-world challenges. Whether it’s gamification, serious games, game-based learning or other EdTech solutions, what matters most is the teacher’s ability to engage, inspire and nurture students’ curiosity and desire to learn.
The Erasmus+ CBHE project EduGame, implemented at VMU together with international colleagues, aims to provide teachers and student teachers with new knowledge and skills on how to apply gamification solutions in higher education. Among the project’s goals is to promote the attitude that digital technologies are just a tool, but that real change happens through human connection and a creative educational process using innovative technological solutions.
